There are places that possess a memory, a soul that goes beyond simple walls or fences. Le Clos Barrat is one of them.
For more than 40 years, this corner of nature in the Lot region has seen thousands of holidaymakers, laughter, scorching summers, and starry nights. But while the faces of the owners have changed, the camping’s essence has always captured the spirit of the times. Each era of Le Clos Barrat tells, in its own way, a page in the history of naturism.
A look back at this evolution, from 1981 to today.
1. The Era of "Health Naturism" 1981-2006
Michel and Monique
We are in the early 80s. At that time, naturism was a militant philosophy, focused on sport and physical health.
It was in this spirit that Michel and Monique opened the doors of the estate in June 1981. They dreamed big with a 25-meter swimming pool and a "collective home."

Le Clos Barrat was then a land of dynamism: regional inter-club sports meetings were organized as early as 1983. It was the era of "mens sana in corpore sano" (a healthy mind in a healthy body). The Legacy? They anchored in our soil this original will to live naturism as a healthy lifestyle, raw and active.
2. The "Family Cocoon" Retreat 2006-2010
Thierry and Sylvie
In the mid-2000s, society changed. Naturism became less associative and more "leisure" oriented. Holidaymakers were looking above all for a refuge for their tribe.
This was the challenge that Thierry and Sylvie took up during the first "passing of the torch" in 2006.

Arriving with their large family, they perfectly embodied this evolution towards "family cocoon" naturism. For four years, they ensured the transition by protecting this haven of peace for families, ensuring that the estate remained a safe and caring place. The Legacy? They proved that Le Clos Barrat was a family home capable of standing the test of time.
3. The Need for Social Connection 2010-2015
Evelyne and Didier
The 2010s marked a turning point: faced with the digitalization of the world, people were thirsty for real human contact and rustic simplicity.
Evelyne and Didier perfectly captured this need to get back to basics.

With them, the barrier between "managers" and "campers" shattered. It was the era of spontaneous conviviality, improvised aperitifs, and being on a first-name basis immediately. They responded to a society in search of human warmth. The Legacy? They taught us that true luxury is not material; it is proximity and shared laughter.
4. Excellence and Europe 2015-2023
Johan and Yolanda
In recent years, outdoor tourism has transformed. Campers, coming from all over Europe, have become more demanding regarding quality and services.
From 2015 to 2023, Johan and Yolanda inscribed Le Clos Barrat in this dynamic of excellence.

Under their management, the campsite opened up to an international clientele and won the title of "Best Naturist Campsite of the Year 2020" (NFN). They showed that one can keep a nature spirit while offering high standards of comfort. The Legacy? The demonstration that naturism can combine authenticity with impeccable service quality.
5. Eco-Naturism and the Quest for Meaning 2024-...
Emmanuelle and Nicolas
Today, we are entering a new era. Faced with the climate emergency and the frantic pace of modern life, naturism is returning to its roots: ecology and disconnection.
Since May 2024, this is our mission. We want to make Le Clos Barrat a bridge between its roots and the challenges of tomorrow.

What is sacred (Our Roots): The DNA of the place remains untouchable. The sporting spirit of 1981, the family of the 2000s, the conviviality of the 2010s... all this is carved in stone. We preciously keep the famous communal barbecues and this unique human warmth.
Our Vision (The Evolution): But being modern today means giving meaning to your holidays.
A sanctuary of disconnection: In a hyper-connected world, the true luxury is being able to slow down ("Slow Life") and reconnect with oneself.
Active ecology: Tomorrow's naturism is inseparable from respect for the planet. Upcycling, water management, permaculture... we do not "consume" nature, we regenerate it.
In summary: A History in Motion
Le Clos Barrat is not a simple witness to the past; it is a living place that has spanned the eras.
It knew the sporting rigor of the 80s.
It sheltered the family tribes of the 2000s.
It warmed hearts with its conviviality in the 2010s.
It shone with its European excellence recently.
Today, it is committed to the future and the planet.
Five generations of owners, five visions, but one single soul. Come and write the next chapter of the story with us, feet in the grass and head in the stars.
